Travel Writing Course

I have been invited to give a travel writing course up in the wilds of Scotland in September. It’s run by the Arvon Foundation, who are serious operators and know what they are doing. The place is, so I’m told, absolutely beautiful… and when Scotland is beautiful, it’s really beautiful. So there I will be, pontificating from time to time… although that’s not really my style… more likely I shall be listening earnestly to my co- tutor, Mairi Hedderwick, and enjoying the offerings of the people on the course. Hope to see you there.

Hi Chris, this sounds like a fantastic writing course in a perfect place – wish I could afford to go!

I am a huge fan of your work – currently studying on my year abroad in Granada, I am in fact writing a disstertation on ‘Driving Over Lemons’ and Brenan’s ‘South from Granada’ amongst other travel writers for my University back in England. It would be fantastic to hear from you and perhaps take a trip up to El Valero for some added research?

    All the best,

Hi Chris – just finished the Trilogy about Spain and the book about sailing and I thank you for making me love my job again. I teach world geography in a flyover state of the US (Missouri) at a small college and the kids are so disinterested in the world. But they like hearing some of your chapters and then trying to locate Spain on a map which leads us to… surprise… Europe and then Africa etc etc… Anyway I get to read the books and laugh and giggle and wish myself far away which apparently makes me nicer to my student knuckleheads. Hi Chris, I also love your books and thanks to Lisa and Serge’s visit to El Valero and your good wishes I now have my own copy of Driving Over Lemons with your personal inscription. Many thanks. I have all your books on ipod as audio books as I spend two and half hours each day behind the wheel and listen to them often. Just one question and to adulterate a line from Driving Over Lemons ” what seems to be the hold up – where’s the next book?”
    cheers
    Tim
